New California Bill would ban sale of 3d printers which are not on a state-maintained roster to prevent printing of Firearms

• This bill would effectively: Require manufacturers to register each printer model with the California DOJ for approval. Make it a misdemeanor to knowingly circumvent the protections (i.e. installing open source software). Ban the sale or transfer of nonapproved printer which do not have "firearm blocking technology". Allow civil penalties of up to $25,000 per violation for selling or transferring non-compliant printers.   submitted by   /u/ThisGuyEveryTime
